Sarajevo, 29 -30 November, 2021 – The Team of the Development Programming Institute of FBiH contributed the organisation of the Regional Conference on Implementation of Sustainable Development Goals in BiH and participated it's work as a member of the Council for Monitoring of the Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In September 2015, Bosnia and Herzegovina, together with 192 United Nations Member States, committed to implement Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development, which consists of 17 Sustainable Development Goals that are the blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for the whole world.  They address the global challenges faced by the whole world, including poverty, inequality, climate change, environmental degradation, prosperity, peace and justice.

Bosnia and Herzegovina has recognized the importance and potential for implementation of the SDGs and Agenda 2030 as an opportunity to significantly improve social, economic and environmental aspects of life within the country, and to enhance the regional cooperation.

Bearing in mind the efforts that the countries in the region, including Bosnia and Herzegovina, have invested into implementation of Agenda 2030, the Council for Monitoring of the Implementation of the SDGs in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in cooperation with the United Nations in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Regional School of Public Administration (ReSPA), with support of Sweden, organized a regional conference aiming at encouraging the exchange of experiences in the region and exploring opportunities for regional cooperation in various aspects of sustainable development.

Participants in the conference were representatives of,  Bosnia and Herzegovina as hosts, Albania, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Slovenia and Serbia. They presented positive practices of implementation of the Agenda 2030 in each of the country, highlighting regional cooperation.

The Agenda 2030 Document emphasizes the following: „The 2030 Agenda is a plan of action for people, the planet and prosperity. It also seeks to strengthen universal peace in larger freedom. All countries and all stakeholders acting in collaborative partnership will implement this plan. We are resolved to free human race from tyranny, poverty and destitution, and want to heal and secure our planet.”
