Zenica, May 20th, 2025  – The meeting of Network of Cantonal Development Planning Practitioners in the Federation of BiH, gathering representatives of cantons and relevant institutions, was held in Zenica.

The Network, whose work is coordinated by Development Programming Institute of FBiH, serves as an important platform for strengthening cooperation in planning, implementation and monitoring of development of Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Opening the meeting, the prime minister of Zenica - Doboj Canton, Nezir Pivić, and Rijad Kovač, temporarily appointed director of the Development Programming Institute of FBiH, wished a successful work to the participants, emphasizing the importance of continuous dialogue and joint actions of all levels of government. Participants shared the information on progress and challenges in the work of cantonal units, while the Federal Institute presented current initiatives at the level of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, including a proposal to establish a public registry of strategic documents at the cantonal level, following the example of the registry maintained by the Federal Institute.

Special attention is paid to development perspectives. Ivan Markić, vice dean for digitization and innovation, from the University of Mostar, spoke about the possibilities of applying artificial intelligence in public administration. Leonida Hadžimuratović, from the Federal Ministry of Spatial Planning, presented the Plan for the long-term renovation of buildings until 2050. Marko Antonio Brkić, from the Federal Ministry of Education and Science, spoke about experiences from the previous science development strategy and future activities, and Vjekoslav Domljan, from SSST University, about the new models of financing development. The meeting also included presentation of the BETTI project - Better Governance for Trustworthy AI, which the Federal Institute implements through the Interreg Europe Program. The project aims to improve the management capacity of development policies in the era of artificial intelligence. Aida Laković Hošo, from UNDP, emphasized the importance of building the system of coordination of socio-economic development and called for further cooperation.

As the host and partner in this important project, the Development Programming Institute of FBiH additionally confirms its commitment to modernization, transparency and more efficient development of public administration in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
