Sarajevo, November 07, 2019- The third workshop for multisectoral consultations on the topic of Good and Inclusive Governance, related to the development of the Federation of BiH Development Strategy 2021-2027, was held today. Topics discussed were corruption, good governance and public services; macroeconomic stability and responsible public institutions; competitiveness and business climate. The outcome of the consultation will be proposals for measures and priorities for the objectives that will be contained in the Federation's development plan towards a society of economic prosperity and a qualitative life of the people. The organizer of multisectoral consultations is the Federal Institute for Development Programming.

Result of the macroeconomically stability of a country is steady economic growth and increased employment without significant prices increase, while maintaining a balance in foreign trade. With an average of annual real GDP growth of 2.8% in 2012-2018, the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina is failing to keep up with developing countries and upper middle income countries. However, it can still accelerate economic growth in the coming period by boosting competitiveness, modernizing the economy, improving the financial system, increasing exports, attracting investments.

By achieving a better competitiveness position, countries achieve economic growth and raise living standards. In this regard, for the Federation of BiH it is important to achieve better labor productivity, develop economic infrastructure, sectoral specialization, and adopt to new technologies.

Good governance concept is a precondition for sustainable socio-economic development. BiH has one of the largest public sectors in the region (out of the total number of employees, almost every third employee works in the public sector) due to the complex and decentralized political and administrative system. The key for good governance in the Federation is the fight against corruption, as well as the functional organization and modernization of public administration (including it's digitization).

Today's discussion was facilitated by professors Jasmin Halebić, Nedim Čelebić, Bahrija Umihanić and Suad Musić, while the representatives of key socioeconomic development actors (Government of the Federation of BiH, Federal and Cantonal Ministries, Chambers of Commerce,...) aimed to  agree and propose measures, priorities and goals for the Federation of BiH development.
